::News:: Before you commit your thoughts and feelings I've decided to write this journal entry to address the topical nature of the images I'm about to upload and will be uploading over the next few weeks once I've got a proper scanner. It doesn't take one long to realise how much hatred there is in the world at the moment. You don't have to look so far as foreign countries, the news or even so far as beyond yourself in most cases. ::News:: Still is movement, still A thought I was marinating on... When you take a photo it captures a moment in time, however can either of these two nouns truly be described as their existence is purely subjective. 'Yes they can' you say 'I have moments on my watch all the time!' Consider this then, any photo you are looking at or have ever seen is actually a period of 'time' instead of 'frozen' time since the shutter was open for 1/500th of a second or 1/1000th of a second and recorded all the light hitting the film for that period. ::News:: Theory and Practice Okay so last week or the week before (can't remember) I scanned about 200-250 frames and very few came out. Damn. This is due to two things: The scanner I was using is a flatbed and is not really designed to scan negatives and I used a piece of paper in between the negatives and the scanner cover to flatten them (they were a bit curly you see). Herein lies my failure as I've just come to realise, the scanner's 'lid' has a reflective inner surface where as paper is matte therefor there wasn't enough light being reflected through the negatives to produce a reasonable image.
